Tom is an ecologist with eleven years consultancy experience and a further four years experience of conservation management and biological monitoring. Tom co-ordinates, implements and oversees a range of ecological surveys, assessments and mitigation programmes throughout the UK and particularly north Wales/ north west England. Tom is a full member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management as well as a Chartered Environmentalist.

Tom has considerable experience in ecological survey, impact assessment, mitigation prescription and implementation particularly for protected species, on-site supervision and guidance and management plan production.
He is also fully conversant with the ecological requirements of BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes assessments.
Tom is skilled in a range of survey techniques, including Phase 1 and 2 habitat surveys, hedgerow surveys, ornithological surveys, River Corridor Survey, biodiversity priority species and protected species surveys (Great Crested Newts, reptiles, Water Voles, Otters, Badgers and bats). He holds current Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) and Natural England (NE) ‘survey and disturbance’ licenses for Great Crested Newt as well as a CCW ‘survey’ licence for Water Vole. He also holds both CCW and NE licenses to ‘disturb’ Lesser Silver Water Beetle (whilst undertaking Great Crested Newt surveys).
Tom's experience in ecological survey and assessment is supported by excellent botanical identification skills and an in-depth understanding of many British taxa. This enables him to undertake other specialist surveys including lepidoptera, odonata and bird surveys.
